Englisch B1+ Bird-watching in English: Freizeitpark Marienfelde

Located on the site of a former rubbish tip which closed in 1980, the Freizeitpark in Marienfelde has gradually been reclaimed by nature. The mixture of water, meadowland and wooded areas make it an attractive home for diverse species. The park extends over 40 hectares, contains three small lakes and the terrain is surprisingly hilly. From the highest points there are extensive views of Berlin and Brandenburg. It is home to many species of song birds, water birds and birds of prey. Rare plants, insects and amphibians can also be observed. A 1.5 kilometre nature trail is maintained by NABU Berlin and boasts several detailed information boards.
