Mal Pool
Zertifizierte*r Stadtnaturführer*in Berlin
My name is Mal (they/them), I have worked as a freelance tour guide in Berlin and wider Germany since 2007. I have undergraduate degrees in Anthropology, East Asian Studies, and Neuroscience; a graduate degree in Cognitive Neuropsychology and some big data neuroimaging research under my belt. Since 1994, I have also been involved in or initiated collective projects dealing with food security, prison/punitive-justice abolition, and refugee support. Currently my other main source of financial stability is through supporting persons in need at events as well as conflict resolution and training for organisations with Anarchist Awareness Alliance, a collective I co-founded in 2020. That same year I started a journey of wild mushroom identification and foraging which has become a year round, weekly endeavor. Periodically I also write critical articles for Trek Central. All of these passions inform and enrich the tours I offer and the way in which I engage with groups.
In December 2025 I completed the certification with the Stiftung Naturschutz Berlin, Zertifizierte*r Stadtnaturführer*in Berlin / Zertifizierte*r Natur- und Landschaftsführer*in nach BANU.
