Part 1 takes place on the 5th of August

FemAle meets Spreepark

Part 2 of the series

Workshop 2:
Plants - the basis of traditional beer: hops, herbs, grains.

Did you know that hops belong to the hemp family and have only been used for brewing beer since the Middle Ages? And that before that, beer was brewed with herbs such as yarrow and mugwort? Also, do you know what malt is?
Everyone who’s interested in brewing beer will have to learn something about plants - and quite a few of these necessary brewing plants can be found in Spreepark and the city in general.

Together we will go on a plant hunt and learn important and surprising things about hops, herbs and grains with all our senses. We collect plants, identify them, examine and taste them. Along with the plants we will taste all different kinds of beers brewed with different herbs and grains. Our awareness of the surrounding urban nature and its possibilities grows playfully along the way. The harvested wild hops will also be used to brew beer afterwards.

Dear people, femAle is a feminist beer brewed with wild hops by FLINTA people. We try to welcome everyone, nonetheless our priority is for these events to be a safe space for those who identify as FLINTA. If you are a non-FLINTA participant please be mindful about your participation - how you occupy and take space, share your knowledge and interact with those who are marginalised and vulnerable.

The workshops part 3 and 4 take place outside the Spreepark and have to be booked through the people of FemAle.
